Brass music is a band that consists entirely of brass instruments. Most bands have a variety of instruments which may include, the cornet, flugel horn, trumpet, tuba, trombone, and french horn. The Brass Band dates back to the early 19th Century. Presently there are hundreds of brass bands in North America and it is very exciting to see this traditional music making a comeback. Brass music has proven to appeal to all generations of the music industry.
Some upcoming events in Chicago are The Chicago Brass Band on December 15th, 2011 at McCormick Place, this is an International Band and Orchestra Conference. Rebirth Brass Band will be performing on October 28th and 29th, 2011 at Martyrs’. Also The Chicago Brass Festival will be held March 9th and 10th, 2012 at Northeastern Illinois University. This 2 day event showcases world class talent in performances and masterclasses. It also hosts an ensemble competition, student solo competition, many vendors and exhibits to explore.
